Minors

Minors can increase students' options when exploring employment, professional, and/or graduate school opportunities. A minor is not required for graduation from LAS, although many students decide to complete a minor to enhance their undergraduate education. Many students choose a minor in an area that particularly piques their interest or relates to their major field.

A minor may be declared either in the department offering the minor or in the LAS Academic Advising Center. To discuss course selection and progress with minor requirements, departmental advisors are available.

The following are the available LAS minors. Select the corresponding link to be directed to the specific requirements for each minor in the UIC Undergraduate Catalog:

NOTE: At least half of the credit hours required for a minor must be completed at UIC, and a minimum GPA of 2.0/4.0 is required in the minor field.

Minors offered by other UIC colleges and made available to LAS students are acceptable towards LAS undergraduate degrees. For a list of all minor options at UIC, access the Degree Program and Minor List in the UIC Undergraduate Catalog. Students should consult with the college offering the minor for more information about that particular minor. Not all minors are open to students from other colleges.

*This minor requires a declared secondary education major.
