Internships & Careers
The LAS Internship Program helps students gain practical work experience and professional connections in exciting work environments like the Shedd Aquarium, the U.S. Secret Service, Edelman Public Relations, Brookfield Zoo, University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago International Film Festival, Illinois State Police Forensic Science Center, and NBC/Telemundo (among many others!).
In addition to gaining important work experience, LAS students earn college credit through the LAS Internship Program.

An LAS education — a breadth of knowledge combined with critical thinking and communication skills — is the best preparation for all careers and professions.
Recent studies find that employers want colleges to produce graduates who can think critically and creatively, and who can communicate orally and in writing, rather than train students in industry-specific skills. A liberal arts and sciences education prepares students to be flexible and adaptable to a changing job landscape (and prepares our graduates for careers that we cannot even imagine yet!).
LAS offers a variety of resources for career development, including information and links to career assessment tools to help you match your interests and skills to a meaningful career and to help you "find your fit." The College also offers a number of great programs and events for career and major exploration.
You can read about how many LAS alumni (68,000 strong and growing) are using their education in a variety of fields and occupations, at times in unexpected ways (AtLAS, the college's magazine, has featured many LAS alumni). Lots of LAS graduates are redefining "traditional" linear career paths and forging their own journeys, built on skill and passion.
UIC's Office of Career Services hosts many events and programs throughout the year, including mock interviews, career fairs, graduate school fairs, and much more.
