LAS Distinguished Professor Lennard Davis Essay Featured on The Los Angeles Review of Books

Apr 25, 2018
The Los Angeles Review of Books features an essay by Lennard Davis, distinguished professor of liberal arts and sciences at UIC, who writes about the horror film "A Quiet Place" and the state of deaf characters in contemporary movies. Davis, a professor of English, disability and human development, and medical education, says that this film and other recent movies treat deafness as a positive and useful thing, rather than an oddity, and this cinematic trend is in keeping with advances in deaf studies.
