Additional Employment of Full-Time LAS Faculty
In general, faculty members are not to receive supplemental compensation for an activity understood to be part of the normal obligations to teach, do research, and contribute service. For example, an LAS faculty member should not be paid an honorarium to speak at an academic conference hosted by the University of Illinois at Chicago. However, he or she may be paid to give a seminar to a group of alumni or other outside audience.
Tenure-track assistant professors should concentrate their professional time on research and required teaching and should not take on additional teaching without permission of the departmental executive officer.
