LAS Promotion and Tenure Schedule 2017-2018

Below is the schedule for all Promotion and Tenure cases, Mid-Probationary Reviews, and Lecturer Promotions for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 2017-2018. All materials should go to 421 University Hall (Beth Allen, betha@uic.edu).

Schedule for ALL Departments

Date Action Required
Thursday, September 7th (second week of the term)
  • Notify the College of promotion and tenure cases and mid-probationary reviews in your unit. Submit the (1) Tenure-Track and Research or Clinical Non-Tenure Track Expected Promotion and Tenure Reviews; AND (2) Expected Mid-Probationary Review Form. Note: For faculty with joint appointments, both departments must submit a form but the home department is responsible for coordinating the P&T process.
  • Please refer to the College’s guidelines for promoting Clinical and Research track faculty.
  • Submit either (a) a statement that the departmental procedures for promotion and tenure, including those for promotion to Senior Lecturer and for mid-probationary reviews, in your unit are unchanged from last year or (b) a copy of your revised procedures for promotion and tenure, Senior Lecturer promotions, and mid-probationary reviews. Please highlight any changes implemented since last year. If a special committee oversees the process, please indicate how its members are selected and provide the names of this year’s members.
  
Thursday, September 7th (second week of the term)
  • Mandatory workshop for typists preparing P&T packets in 2017-2018, 3:30pm, 401 University Hall.
  
Thursday, September 28th (fifth week of the term)
  • Submit the THREE double-sided stapled photocopies of the Promotion and Tenure Forms for all cases having tenure code T-6 or lower to the College for review. If a student delivers the package, it must be sealed. All cases must be complete, and the department must proofread all cases. Do NOT submit the original packet.
  
Thursday, October 5th (sixth week of the term)
  • Submit the THREE double-sided stapled photocopies of the Promotion and Tenure Forms for all other cases to the College for review. All cases must be complete, and the department must proofread all cases. Do NOT submit the original packet.
  
Thursday, November 2nd (tenth week of the term)
  • Deadline for submitting revised final cases to LAS. For each case, please submit:
    1. Original, unstapled but clipped
    2. Two (2) double-sided copies, stapled
    3. Upload the following to the U of I Box (details to follow):
      • Word version of P&T packet
      • PDF of P&T packet
      • PDF of articles or chapter-length sample of the candidate's work.
  
Wednesday, November 15th - Tuesday, December 12th
  • Copies of all cases will be available for review by members of the Executive Committee.
  
Tuesday, December 5th
  • Executive Committee meets to review all Clinical and Research cases. A schedule of the Executive Officers’ presentations will be distributed.
  
Wednesday, December 13th -Thursday, December 14th
  • Executive Committee meets to review all tenure-track cases. A schedule of the Executive Officers’ presentations will be distributed.
  
Thursday, February 8th
  • Final deadline for submitting Senior Lecturer promotion cases to LAS. For each case, please use the Promotion to Senior Lecturer form and submit:
    1. Original, unstapled but clipped
    2. Two (2) double-sided copies, stapled
    3. Upload the following to the U of I Box (details to follow):
      • PDF version of lecturer promotion packet
  
Friday, February 23rd
  • Copies of all Senior Lecturer promotion cases will be available for review by members of the Executive Committee.
  
TBD,  March
  • Executive Committee meets to review Senior Lecturer promotion cases.
  
Friday, April 6th
  • Submit original and TWO single-sided photocopy of the Mid-Probationary Review Form for all cases to the College.
