The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers programs in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, as well as interdisciplinary programs that enhance the educational quality and depth of all undergraduate colleges on campus. The largest of the colleges at UIC, LAS houses 22 departments and programs. They offer 37 undergraduate major fields of specialization, 38 minors, 14 languages, about 43 graduate degrees at the masters and doctoral levels, and almost 1,000 courses. Students from all undergraduate colleges and many graduate programs enroll in LAS courses. Over 350 tenure track faculty teach the College's over 10,000 students.

By applying to the GPPA program (Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions) as an incoming freshman, you could earn a reserved spot in the UIC professional school or graduate program of your choice, including areas such as: Health Sciences, Education, Business, Engineering, Law, and Urban Planning and Urban Affairs.
Earn college credit and gain invaluable real-world experience through the LAS Internship Program. LAS students and interns at Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the F.B.I, the Argonne National Laboratory, the Chicago Tribune, and major corporations and non-profits across Chicagoland.
