Before First-Year Orientation & Registration

Get ready for registration before coming to Orientation by reviewing the information provided in the links below.

Once you have familiarized yourself with your placement test results, learned about course requirements, and looked over course descriptions, you will be more prepared to sign up for the appropriate courses at Orientation.

If you are unable to attend an LAS Orientation program, please do the following:

  • Schedule an appointment to see an LAS academic advisor on August 18 or 20. To schedule an appointment, call (312) 996-3366. Appointments are 30 minutes long and are available between 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm. The LAS Academic Advising Center is located on the 3rd floor of University Hall, 601 S. Morgan Street.
    • If you are unable to schedule an appointment on the dates listed above, come to walk-in advising at the LAS Academic Advising Center on August 21, 22, or 25. Advisors will be available on these dates between 8:30am-11:30am and 1:00pm-4:00pm. Appointments are neither necessary nor available during walk-in advising.
  • A few notes:
    • First-year students are required to meet with an LAS academic advisor prior to registering for Fall 2014 classes.
    • Take placement tests if you have not already done so.
    • Review the online resources above to help you with course registration.
    • Make sure the UIC Office of Admissions has final transcripts from any previous institutions.
