Pre-Health Professions
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers specialized advising for students interested in pursuing future professional studies in a variety of health careers. Advisors encourage and support students in evaluating strengths and weaknesses, life goals and their intended career path within individual appointments, small group sessions and workshops. Students will be guided in the incorporation of pre-requisite coursework alongside Bachelors degree requirements to enhance their professional credentials and expand future career possibilities.
An educational goal, (i.e. Pre-Medicine, Pre-Nursing, etc.) will enable students to be included in Pre-Health related emails, including but not limited to updates regarding: course registration waitlists, workshops, campus speakers, professional school open houses, and scholarship opportunities. Students can request to have an educational goal listed on their school record by requesting the change on the Educational Goal page.
See the calendar of pre-health events for a list of all workshops and activities related to pre-health studies at UIC.

Advising Appointments
Students are encouraged to meet with LAS advisors to assist in planning and decision making toward all pre-professional interest areas.
LAS Freshmen and sophomore students may see general LAS advisors for individual appointments and are encouraged to attend numerous workshops given by LAS Pre-Health advisors throughout the academic terms.
All LAS students interested in nursing may request an individual appointment with a Pre-Nursing advisor.
LAS Junior and senior students may request an individual appointment with a pre-health advisor. Students are highly encouraged to attend an application timeline workshop before making an appointment to get an overview of the necessary steps and procedures for the next two years.
Students may call 312-996-3366 or come to the LAS Advising Office (309 University Hall) to make an appointment.
UIC students outside of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who desire to meet with a pre-health advisor are asked to complete the Non LAS Pre-Health Student Request form. A pre-health advisor will respond as quickly as possible regarding the request.
UIC Alumni can request to speak to a pre-health advisor by completing the Alumni Request form.
For pre-health questions not needing a full appointment, pre-health advisors are available on a walk-in basis to answer quick questions or offer advice to a presented situation. Pre-health Walk-In hours are on Tuesdays during fall and spring semesters from 8:30-10:00a.m. and 2:30-3:30p.m.
Email a Pre-Health Advisor
For general questions students may email a pre-health advisor or a pre-nursing advisor and questions will be answered by an advisor. Questions regarding letters of recommendation can be addressed on the Letter of Recommendation page or by emailing phletters@las.uic.edu.
