Giving to LAS

Access Illinois: The Presidential Scholarship Initiative

The Access Illinois scholarship at UIC seeks to increase student access by building private support for need-based awards. To make the most of private support, a matching gift program has been implemented for new and increased giving. It increases the value and impact of your gift to students who demonstrate the most need.

Current-use Gifts. Your commitment of $2,500 per year for four consecutive years provides current-use scholarship funds for undergraduate students. Current-use gifts, also called outright gifts, are attractive giving options because they are put to use immediately. Gifts to Access Illinois at UIC will be given to individual students who qualify for need-based scholarships. These pledges will be matched by UIC.

Endowments. With a gift of $100,000 you can create a new scholarship endowment or add to an existing, qualified scholarship endowment. Endowments, or endowed funds, are those gifts that are invested with only payout from the interest income being spent. The larger the endowment, the greater the interest income payout generated and the greater the impact. Endowments are an attractive giving option because they remain an everlasting source of private support. Payouts from endowed funds are eligible for the matching program.

Both current-use and endowed gifts can realize matching benefits. For more information call 312-413-1898.

The Fund for LAS

Gifts to this fund allow the Dean to designate monies to areas of current and immediate need including day-to-day operations, support for scholarly research and undergraduate scholarships.

The LAS Scholarship Fund

Departmental, Academic Unit and Endowed Funds

In addition to the two LAS funds listed above, you can provide support at the departmental or unit level, designating scholarship and/or research philanthropy in your specific area of interest. A list of LAS funds, departments and departmental funds can be found on our giving page.
